BREAKING: Gov Eno Approves Appointment Letters for 4,000 New Civil Servants

Reported By Facthabournews

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has approved the immediate release of appointment letters to 4,000 persons who successfully completed the state’s recent recruitment process into the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service.

The newly recruited civil servants are expected to officially resume work on October 2, 2026, while their appointment letters will be dated October 1, 2026, which is a national public holiday.

Governor Eno gave the directive on Friday, September 18, 2026, during the presentation of the recruitment report by the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Ekerebong Umoh, at the Government House in Uyo.

The approval marks the conclusion of the latest stage of the state government’s recruitment exercise, following the selection of successful applicants for employment into the state civil service.

According to the announcement, the 4,000 successful candidates will receive their appointment letters without further delay, allowing them to formally begin their service to the state from October.

The Governor’s directive is expected to provide clarity to successful applicants who have been awaiting the outcome of the recruitment exercise and the formal documentation required for their entry into the state workforce.

The appointment letters will carry October 1 as the effective date of appointment, despite the fact that the date is a national holiday. Consequently, the newly recruited workers will physically resume their duties on Friday, October 2, 2026.

The development represents a significant addition to the state’s civil service workforce and is expected to bring new personnel into various ministries, departments and agencies of the Akwa Ibom State Government.

Speaking during the presentation of the recruitment report, the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Ekerebong Umoh, presented the outcome of the recruitment process to the Governor.

The Governor subsequently authorised the immediate issuance of appointment letters to those who successfully scaled through the exercise.

The recruitment is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its workforce and fill available vacancies across the public service.

For the successful applicants, the release of the appointment letters will formally transition them from candidates in the recruitment process to employees of the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service.

Further details concerning the ministries, departments, agencies, cadres and deployment of the newly recruited civil servants are expected to be made available by the state government as the implementation process progresses.

The state government is also expected to provide additional information regarding the collection of appointment letters and other documentation requirements for the successful candidates.

The 4,000 recruits will therefore commence their official duties from October 2, while their appointments take effect from October 1, 2026, as directed by the Governor.

More details on the recruitment exercise, including deployment and other administrative arrangements, are expected to be released by the Akwa Ibom State Government.
