Nigeria is set to host the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards, with Lagos selected as the venue for the continent’s annual football honours.

The prestigious ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 7, 2026, bringing together leading African football personalities, players, coaches, administrators and other stakeholders.

CAF also confirmed that Nigeria will host its Ordinary General Assembly on November 21, ahead of the awards ceremony.

The decisions were reached during a virtual meeting of the CAF Executive Committee chaired by CAF President Patrice Motsepe on Friday, October 2.

The hosting rights represent another major football event for Nigeria, which has a long history of involvement in the development and administration of the sport on the continent.

The CAF Awards recognise outstanding achievements and performances in African football across various categories, including the continent’s leading male and female players, coaches and clubs. The event also provides an opportunity to celebrate individuals and teams whose contributions have shaped African football during the year.

The Lagos ceremony is expected to attract football officials and prominent figures from across Africa, while the CAF General Assembly will bring together representatives of the confederation’s member associations to deliberate on matters concerning the administration and development of African football.

Nigeria’s selection as host also places the country at the centre of CAF activities toward the end of 2026, with Lagos expected to provide the setting for both the continental football body’s formal administrative gathering and its annual awards celebration.

Further details concerning the nominees, programme and other arrangements for the 2026 CAF Awards are expected to be announced by CAF as preparations progress.
