JAMB Moves O’Level Result Upload Online, Ends Routine CBT Centre Visits

Reported By Facthabournews
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new online system that allows candidates to verify and upload their O’Level results from home, eliminating the need for routine visits to Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for the process.
The new arrangement, announced on Monday, August 24, 2026, is initially available for results issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). JAMB said the initiative is designed to make the process easier, faster and more secure for candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Candidates Can Now Verify Results From Home
Under the new system, JAMB will electronically verify candidates’ O’Level results directly with the relevant examination body before the verified information is uploaded to their JAMB profiles.
The development is expected to reduce the pressure on CBT centres, particularly during periods when large numbers of candidates visit the centres to complete admission-related processes.
JAMB’s Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the technology-driven service was part of the Board’s efforts to improve customer service and reduce unnecessary physical visits, queues and paperwork.
The new system is also intended to address some problems associated with manual result uploads, including errors in entering subjects and grades, misplaced or mixed-up certificates and the submission of unverified or fraudulent results.
How the New Verification Process Works
Candidates are required to first obtain a Result Verification Code through the designated verification platform.
They will need to provide their National Identification Number (NIN), indicate the number of O’Level sittings and select the relevant examination body or bodies.
Candidates are also required to provide their email address and GSM number before proceeding with payment through the available payment gateway.
After payment, candidates will enter their examination details, including examination number, examination series and examination year.
Once the result has been successfully verified against the records of the examination body, JAMB will issue the candidate a Verification Code.
Candidates Must Send Verification Code
After obtaining the Verification Code, candidates are required to send “VERIFY” followed by the Verification Code to 55019 or 66019.
JAMB said candidates would subsequently receive a notification confirming the verification and submission of their result.
The process is designed to create a direct electronic link between the candidate, JAMB and the relevant examination body, reducing the possibility of errors that can occur when results are manually entered or uploaded.
Procedure for Candidates With Two O’Level Sittings
Candidates who have two O’Level sittings will need to log into their JAMB e-Facility dashboard and select “2026 UTME O’Level Upload.”
After entering their Verification Code, their verified results will be displayed on the platform.
Candidates can then select the subjects they wish to use for their admission requirements.
JAMB said candidates must select a minimum of five and a maximum of nine subjects, with no subject selected more than once. After making the appropriate selections, candidates should click “Apply the O’Level Results.”
A notification will be sent to the candidate once the upload has been successfully completed.
Move Expected to Reduce CBT Centre Pressure
The introduction of the online system could significantly change how candidates handle O’Level result uploads during the admission season.
Previously, candidates who needed assistance with result uploads often depended on accredited CBT centres. During peak periods, this could lead to long queues, delays and difficulties caused by network congestion or high demand.
JAMB said the new arrangement would provide a convenient alternative, allowing candidates to complete the verification and upload process remotely.
The Board also expects the electronic verification system to strengthen the integrity of admission records by ensuring that submitted results can be checked directly against records held by examination bodies.
CBT Centres Still Important for Other JAMB Services
The development does not mean that CBT centres are no longer relevant to JAMB operations.
The Board’s existing 2026 UTME guidelines continue to require candidates to use accredited CBT centres for certain registration procedures involving biometric capture and other activities. JAMB’s earlier official bulletin also directed candidates to upload awaiting results online once they become available.
Therefore, candidates should distinguish between the new online O’Level verification/upload service and other JAMB processes that may still require physical attendance at an accredited centre.
Part of JAMB’s Digital Transformation
The new O’Level service represents another step in JAMB’s broader move towards digital service delivery.
By allowing candidates to verify their results electronically, the Board hopes to reduce paperwork, improve accuracy and make admission-related processes more convenient.
The initiative could also help candidates avoid unnecessary expenses associated with repeated visits to CBT centres for a process that can now be completed online.
JAMB said it would continue working with examination bodies and other government agencies to strengthen the system and expand technology-driven services.
For candidates preparing for admission into universities, polytechnics and colleges of education, the immediate benefit is greater convenience.
Candidates can now initiate the O’Level verification and upload process from home, provided they meet the requirements and follow the prescribed procedure.
The Board has, however, advised candidates to ensure that the information they provide is accurate and that they follow the official verification process carefully.
With the new system now operational, JAMB’s O’Level result upload process is moving away from routine physical intervention at CBT centres towards a more automated and electronically verified system.
This report is based on JAMB’s announcement and publicly available information from the Board and established Nigerian news organisations. Candidates should rely on JAMB’s official channels for any subsequent changes to the procedure or requirements.
