UYO – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has been named the Most Outstanding Governor in Nigeria’s South-South geopolitical zone at the prestigious Daily Times Nigeria Centenary (DTN@100) Heroes Awards, following the conclusion of a nationwide digital voting process.

Governor Eno emerged ahead of other nominees from the South-South region after securing the highest number of verified public votes in the highly competitive category, according to the organisers of the awards.

The DTN@100 Heroes Awards, organised as part of the centenary celebration of Daily Times Nigeria, recognises individuals and institutions whose leadership, innovation and contributions have significantly impacted national development. The awards attracted thousands of verified votes from Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

The Chairman of the DTN@100 Organising Council, Bolaji Okusaga, described the public participation in the voting exercise as a demonstration of Nigerians’ desire to celebrate excellence, integrity and transformational leadership.

Governor Eno’s recognition comes amid growing national attention to his administration’s implementation of the ARISE Agenda, which has prioritised infrastructure development, rural transformation, healthcare, education, agriculture, tourism and social welfare programmes across Akwa Ibom State.

The governor has recently received commendations for flagship projects, including the Oron Maritime Hub, ARISE Compassionate Homes, strategic road construction, healthcare interventions and grassroots empowerment initiatives.

The award further strengthens Governor Eno’s profile as one of Nigeria’s top-performing governors, with observers pointing to his administration’s emphasis on inclusive governance, transparency and people-centred development.

The DTN@100 Heroes Awards will culminate in a grand ceremony scheduled for September 3, 2026, at the THISDAY Dome in Abuja, where winners across various categories will be formally honoured and inducted into the Nigerian Book of Life, a commemorative publication celebrating outstanding personalities and institutions that have contributed to Nigeria’s growth over the past century.
