Fire at Bangkok Pub Kills at Least 27 People, Dozens Injured

By Fact Harbour News

At least 27 people have died and dozens of others have been injured after a devastating fire swept through a popular pub in Bangkok, Thailand, in one of the country’s deadliest nightlife disasters in recent years. Authorities said at least 22 of the injured remain in critical condition, while emergency responders continue rescue and identification efforts.

The fire broke out shortly before midnight at the Na Lat Phrao pub in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district. Witnesses reported seeing smoke coming from an electrical circuit breaker near the stage before a power outage was followed by an explosion, sending flames and thick smoke rapidly through the crowded venue.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control within about 30 minutes, but many victims were reportedly trapped inside the building. Several bodies were discovered in restrooms at the rear of the establishment, where officials believe some patrons sought refuge from the smoke and flames but were unable to escape.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul expressed condolences to the families of the victims and said authorities have launched a full investigation into the cause of the fire. Officials are examining whether the venue complied with fire safety regulations, including emergency exits and evacuation procedures.

The tragedy has renewed concerns over fire safety standards in Thailand’s entertainment venues. The country has experienced several deadly nightclub and pub fires over the past two decades, prompting repeated calls for stricter enforcement of building and public safety regulations.

Emergency services have established assistance centres to help relatives locate missing loved ones, while hospitals across Bangkok continue treating those injured in the incident. Authorities said the death toll could change as rescue and identification efforts continue.

Fact Harbour News will continue to provide verified updates as the investigation progresses and more information becomes available.
